The Cree School Board was established in 1978. The classrooms were in the old Federal day school buildings. The grade levels were from Pre-Kindergarten to Secondary 2. Students had to finish their high school in Chisasibi or another community.
Badabin Eeyou School was built in 1982 with Pre-Kindergarten to Secondary 5. We had our first high school graduation in 1989. The location of the school is in the center of the Whapmagoostui community. The language of instruction is Cree and is taught from pre-k to secondary 5. English (Second Language) is taught from grade 1 to secondary 5. Every school follows the GVC (Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum).
