James Bay Eeyou School
Waapinichikush Elementary School
James Bay Eeyou School was built in the heart of Chisasibi in 1980. Currently, the high school is composed of 398 students.
The language of instruction is Cree and is taught from secondary 1 to secondary 5. English or French (Second Language) are taught from secondary 1 to secondary 5. Every school follows the GVC (Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum).

The mission of James Bay Eeyou school is to acknowledge, promote and maintain traditional Cree culture and values while providing students with the competencies, knowledge and skills needed to be a vital part of today’s modern Cree community. By maintaining and combining traditional pursuits with modern academics, the students will have the ability to live and move comfortably between both worlds, to enjoy the best of both worlds.
