Regional Annie Whiskeychan Day celebrates Cree traditions, language

Students from around Eeyou/Eenou Istchee gathered in Ouje-Bougoumou May 24 to honour one of the shapers of Cree education – the late Annie Whiskeychan

Whiskeychan was a driving spirit behind Cree curriculum at the Cree School Board. She developed resources that are still used in classrooms – including written stories which document traditional Cree practices and life.

The Cree School Board and Frontier College will once again partner with Air Creebec to offer summer literacy camps for children 5 to12 years old in all nine communities of Eeyou Istchee.

We are seeking summer camp counsellors in each community.

The position is a six-week contract that lasts until July 31, 2018; candidates must be 18‎+. Training is included.
