— Section 16 of The James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement established the Cree School Board.
— The Cree School Board has full jurisdiction and responsibility for education within the Category-I and Category-II lands of all Cree communities.
— The Board must acknowledge educational concerns and provide learning opportunities for all Cree people.
— Each Cree community appoints or elects one Cree person to act as a School Board Commissioner. The Board is comprised of these Commissioners.
— All persons affiliated with the Cree School Board must carry out their duties and responsibilities according to the collective, educational philosophy of the Cree Nation.
